Training for organisations

Tailored training for your organisation – from an introduction to disability awareness suitable for all staff and volunteer roles, to specialist training and coaching in making technical outdoor activities more accessible and inclusive.

Training can be delivered at your venue, or onsite at Bendrigg.

Bendrigg are obviously experts in disability awareness and inclusion, but they didn't have specific training on how to involve disabled volunteers. However, Sara was more than happy to work with Cumbria CVS on developing a bespoke training package. The training was delivered in an interactive and inspiring way to get volunteer managers thinking and they left with actions on how they can start to incorporate more disabled people into their volunteering programmes. Involving a disabled volunteer part-deliver training was a fantastic way
of promoting the skills and enthusiasm of disabled volunteers to organisations. The way Bendrigg organised the training prior to, and on the day was very professional; the whole team were very welcoming and friendly and it was very person centred. The process of developing a training plan, booking, and the promotional material provided for the training was so smooth. I cannot recommend Bendrigg enough!

"I absolutely loved the course, I feel so much more confident working with my groups and know how to adapt activities to make them accessible, thank you so much."
Freya Lovett

"Not only did the course provide a deep dive into the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities, but I also had the opportunity to explore Bendrigg's amazing facilities. Huge thanks to the team at Bendrigg for their expertise and for creating a space that encourages open discussion and learning. It's a great reminder of the impact we can have when we embrace diversity and make inclusion a priority in both our personal and professional lives."

The National Trust has been working with Bendrigg on a range of activities to increase accessibility and inclusivity at National Trust properties across the North of England. After consultation with the Beyond Bendrigg Team we commissioned them to deliver a pilot project at one of our properties which included disability awareness training for staff and volunteers, site visits by the team and by ‘secret shoppers’ to see how welcoming and inclusive the property was before and after the training. Beyond Bendrigg devised an evaluation framework for the project which questioned participants on their attitudes to disability
and their confidence and skills in welcoming disabled people to our properties before and after interventions, to track the impact of the programme. In addition, a series of workshops was offered to National Trust Managers across the region, using the COM-B model of behaviour change as a tool to drive change. Interim evaluation of the project has been very positive, and we look forward to continuing the work in 2025. The Beyond Bendrigg Team have been great partners to work with, being very understanding of our organisational structure, timescales and values. We wholeheartedly recommend them as partners to others.
